A Potent Experiment - Part 1

Sara sighed as she was faced with the dorm door; the portal to the reality of her next year of college. She was a girl who did not mix well with situations requiring any degree of social interaction, and just as she stood silently before the old, wooden door to her new room, nothing but short, coordinated breaths breaking the thick, suffocating silence of the hallway, she had to prepare herself mentally for the moment she stepped inside and met with her new roommate.

Would she be loud and obnoxious? Just as timid and shy as herself? Whoever occupied the domain behind the door would be sharing her room with her for the whole semester, so she had to be on good terms with her.

Sara was a fairly short girl of five foot something, although she'd never though to check. Her blonde hair was long and fell down over her shoulders, running past her naturally very pretty complexion. Sara was a polite, neat girl who always got good grades and always made sure her room was as tidy and orderly as possible, so she hoped her own levels of cleanliness would be good enough for whatever prefect she would no doubt have as a roommate.

At length, she pushed on the door, opening it inwards as she stepped into the room.

The first thing Sara noticed was the lighting, or, rather, the lack of.
The room was starved of sunlight; the only source of illumination came from the glowing computer screen at the other end of the room.

"Um... Hello?" Sara cautiously took a step inside, and her presence instilled a sudden surge of attention from the girl sitting at the computer, who turned to look at her. Sara could not easily make out her face in the dim room, and she reached to switch the light on.

"No! No!" The girl cried dramatically, and Sara jumped, retracting her hand.

Now she was standing in the room she realised that is was incredibly warm and stuffy, the humid atmosphere carrying the smell of cheese puffs and ready made ramen, along with a rather foul, rotten odour that Sara couldn't seem to identify.

"I'm... Sara. I'm your new room mate."

"Oh. I thought you were arriving tomorrow." The girl said flatly.
"Never mind. Hey! I'm Kate!"

The chair Kate was sitting in rocked back and Sara could see that she reached her hand out to shake it. Sara hesitantly shook it.

"So... Uh.. Your bed is, the one on the right, I think. Just throw the trash off it, it's perfectly untouched."

Sara could hear Kate returning to her computer gaming as she gingerly walked to the bed on the right hand side, pushing off the pile of food wrappers and drinks cans littered atop it. Her first impressions of her roommate Kate weren't exactly favourable.

She began to lay her belongings on the bed. She had packed light, and it seemed this forethought had been a good idea as her side of the room was anything but spacious.

"Can I open the..."

"Blinds? No. You'll ruin my concentration!"

Sara sighed and rolled her eyes begrudgingly, sitting down on the bed and watching the silhouette of her roommate as she leaned towards the computer screen, clicking keys rapidly and causing various sounds of explosions and gunshot to blast from her tinny speakers.

"So... What subjects are you doing?" Sara tried to start conversation; she anticipated her attempts to be fruitless, but the least she could offer was a shallow countenance of amicability.

"Anthropology. It sounded petty fancy, so I decided, why not?" Kate replied, her gaze still fixed on the screen.

"Anthropology? Isn't there an anthropology exam in the main hall right now?"

Kate looked up from her screen for the first time, her tongue clicking for a few seconds.
"Oh, that's what I was trying to remember. Huh.." She then leaned back into her game again.

"You MISSED the exam!?" Sara gasped.

"So what? I can just redo it."

"Well... I suppose you could, but that's not the point really... You need to go to your exams; you can't just expect the college to keep accommodating your bad memory."

Kate waved her hand in dismissal, and got back to her game. "What about you?" She asked Sara, without even making eye contact.

"Well... I'm doing math, and physics."

Kate stopped playing again for a moment, glancing over at Sara.

"Yeah, I can see that."

Sara wasn't sure whether that was supposed to be a compliment, or an insult.

"Right. Well, I hope you won't be playing that game ALL the time, I will need some quiet times for study."

"Yeah, yeah, I'll get off it in a minute. I was expecting a whole other day before I was forced to make social interactions." She sniggered.

"It's... It's alright." Sara smiled, despite the fact Kate couldn't tell - partly because of the dim lighting in the room and partly because of Kate being distracted by the game in front of her.

Within the next twenty minutes Kate sighed and turned the computer off, switching on her desk lamp and reacting to the sudden light as if it burnt her skin.

Kate was slightly taller than Sara, and had unnaturally Crimson hair that messily settled over her shoulders. Her eyes were wrought with lack of sleep and overexposure to computer screens; their natural deep green had been sullied and now appeared more of a rusty, dirty green.

Her clothes loosely hung off of her. Her black bra strap was visible and her sweatpants were covered in more stains than Sara felt comfortable to count.

"Yo." Kate said with a cough.

Sara was beginning to realise that the source of the skunky smell in the room was mostly Kate herself. She didn't want to think about how many days it had been since she'd washed, but if she had to wager a guess it would have been double digits.

Kate swivelled round in her chair and started at a new can of soda, drinking it in the loudest, most obnoxious way possible. She stopped and sighed, holding the can out to Sara.

"Want a sip?" Her eyes fixed intently on the girl.

"N-no, thanks..." She replied, to which Kate simply shrugged and continued to down the can, throwing it behind herself once she had finished it off.

Sara began to rifle through her backpack, taking out some books to arrange on the bed when her attention was drawn to a sudden noise.

Uuuuuuuururp--!

Kate let out a powerful, unwavering belch with an expression of contentment.

"Um... Excuse you?" Sara scowled slightly.

"Uh... Excuse me.." Kate snickered.

Sara clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes, focusing her attention back to her books.

"There is, uh, something I should probably tell you... About me." Kate said quietly. The only reason she had made the decision to tell Sara was the multiplicative urge to fart she had been suppressing since she had arrived.

"What's that?"

"I have, how would you say... A problem. One I believe pertains to you in one way or another."

Sara threw her gaze to the slightly nervous Kate indignantly. "Just tell me!"

"I have a bit of an issue with gas." Kate said, slightly perturbed by Sara's impatience.

"Gas? What?"

"Farts!" Kate exclaimed, arms outstretched.

"F-farts? What, like, you have a stomach ache or something?"

"No -- it's more than just that. It's a condition I've had since I was younger. Basically, my digestive system produces about twice to three times as much gas as the regular person, meaning..."

"Meaning you fart even more than everyone else?" Sara grimaced in disgust. "Gross!"

"Hey! It's a medical condition! It's not something I can help, or ever have been able to help."

Sara maintained her judgmental look of shock.

"As you can imagine, ever since I was a kid, my condition has not been that helpful in making friends, so I spent most of my time just on my own, I got into games, I disregarded the need for social interaction, and here you see before you who I am today: A borderline-sociopathic girl who plays games, eats shit, and farts so much it's literally unhealthy."

Sara had been prepared for the possibility of having to share her room with a slight oddball, but God almighty..

"Look.. Look... It's ok. I mean... We've only just met, so I can't go ahead and judge you can I? Besides, we're sharing this room for the whole semester, so it's probably best for the both of us that we get along. I suppose I can accept your... Condition, but can you PLEASE keep your... Your farts... Away from me as much as possible?"

"Aye aye!" Kate saluted Sara, shuffling over to her own bed and taking a bouncy seat on it.

"I'll keep all my filth on my side of the room. How does that sound?"

"Sounds... Tolerable." Sara looked back to her own bed, with the intention of getting on with her own work.

"Hey... Now you know about it and everything, is it alright if I..?"

Sara jadedly swerved her head around again to offer a look of confusion and uncertainty at her roommate.

"It's just... I've kinda been holding it in.. It's getting a little painful." Kate shuffled and rocked herself backwards and forwards on the bed as if to accentuate this point.

"Fine." Sara looked over once more to her books, with no intention of looking back again.

Brrrrrrrrmmmmmph

Suddenly, with little notice or warning, a deep, rumbling barrage of noise came from behind Sara, the sound rippled with strong, bassy wetness as her ears followed its tone and volume ever so slightly up and down, before it decided to swerve upwards in pitch several octaves into a crisp, squeaky taper, then quickly, but softly faded into silence.

"Ahh.. I needed that.." She heard Kate remark over her shoulder, her roommate's bed creaking a little as she moved around on it.

Slowly, with a hint of regret, Sara turned to look once more at her uncouth and noisy roommate, met with a simple smirk of innocence located somewhere beneath her two large, playful eyes; she could tell that this girl had released farts of that stature many times before, and that she found it amusing.

"Was that real!?" Sara choked out the question, wholly surprised she was even asking it.

"One hundred percent au naturale!" Kate smiled, her face lit with pride.

"That was... How long was that?" Sara asked in bemusement.

"How am I supposed to know? It's not like I time my farts or anything."
The red-haired girl rolled onto her side, facing away from Sara as her butt stuck out, almost speaking to Sara with a sudden trumpety burst.

"That was so long... I've never heard a fart so long." Sara didn't even want to entertain the concept, but she couldn't deny the impressiveness.

"Really? That wasn't even that long. You should hear my morning farts". Kate chuckled.

Sara turned back to her books again, and surreptitiously slid her phone from her pocket, opening the timer app and keeping her finger above the button in anticipation of Kate's next butt blast.

It was only a matter of minutes before her stinky roommate broke the silence and Sara quickly tapped the screen.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrpttpt-rrsssssssss

Kate liberated the monster of a fart from her ass, letting it bubble and undulate between her plump cheeks.
Sara sat, mouth opened wide as she observed the seconds flick by in front of her, the accompanying soundtrack of Kate's slowly oscillating, deep-frequency flatulence powering on as the time piled on itself, finally as Sara heard the last flicker of life in Kate's current stinkbomb dwindle and smoothly fade into a soft, windy hissing sound, then die down into nothingness, she stopped the timer.

Sara felt her eyes widen as the '18.856' stood solidly on her phone screen, confirming the sheer power of Kate's butt.

"Ohh.." Kate moaned, reaching into her sweatpants to pick out her warm, sweaty panties from their place wedged between her buttocks.

Sara shuffled around on the bed to face her gassy roommate, immediately feeling a hot wave of stink was over her face, she pinched her nose shut just before the rich-but-foul odour of spent meat and steamed broccoli could creep and burn its way into her nasal cavity.

"Holy..." Sara trailed off, capturing the attention of a confused Kate, who turned her head backwards towards Sara.

"What?"

"That's it! You're going to be my focus!"

"Um... Focus? Sorry?"

"The focus for my study project! It's going to be you and your farts!"

Kate sat up properly, now actually listening to what was being said to her as her face formed a sort of confused, slightly wary expression.

"Study project? What?"

"Study project! I need to do one for class, and I've been looking for something interesting enough to warrant a report - and now I've found it!"

"So... You're going to study my... Farts for your class?"

"That's correct. I've never heard farts quite like yours before: their longevity is just stunning, and they manage to maintain so much power over their entire length, and.. The smell... They're really something!"

Kate couldn't help but laugh.
"Thanks, I guess? What happened to not wanting my butt anywhere near you? What happened to your whole clean demeanour?"

"Last year I failed my project, because it was just... Dull. I've been needing something that will give me an edge, and what could do that more than a study of extreme flatulence like yours?" Sara was beginning to feel eager, leaning forwards on the bed, still waiting for the smell to dissipate.

"Ok, I'm game; it would put my gas to use at least. What do you want me to do?"

"Well... I haven't worked out all the little kinks yet, but we're going to run various experiments on your farts, to observe them. Their length, their smell, sound, frequency... I'll have to write up some hypotheses..."

Kate was still laughing. "Sure, sure, sounds fun."

"That's it! I know the perfect first experiment!"
I decided to write something up using some original characters! this is te first part; it's going to get much gassier in the succeeding chapters, but they may not be released for a while as I am working on some other projects.
let me know if you like this story and/or characters!
